In short: FabStep collects no data. There is no account, no server, no advertising and no analytics. Everything is processed on your iPhone and your Apple Watch, and stays there.
Who publishes the app
FabStep is published by Fabrice Fardeau, sole proprietor (“entrepreneur individuel”, EI), trade name Dsgn Consulting,
60, rue François Ier, 75008 Paris, France — SIRET 382 126 514 00043, RCS Paris 382 126 514.

Since no personal data is collected or sent to the publisher, the publisher is not the controller of any processing of your data outside your own devices.
What FabStep does not do
- No account, no sign-up, no email address requested.
- No server: the app sends nothing over the Internet.
- No advertising, no trackers, no analytics or statistics tools, no third-party SDKs.
- No data sold, rented, shared or passed on to anyone.
- No backup to any cloud run by FabStep.
Health data read (read-only)
With your permission, FabStep reads the following data from Apple's Health app (HealthKit), solely to display it to you and calculate your statistics on the device:
- step count;
- distance (walking and running);
- active calories and resting calories;
- exercise minutes;
- flights climbed;
- heart rate;
- resting heart rate;
- heart rate variability (HRV);
- walking speed;
- sleep analysis;
- workouts.
Optionally, to refine the calculations (calories, distance): height, weight, date of birth, sex and blood type. You can decline these: the app still works.
FabStep writes no data to Health.
Commitment: no Health data is used for advertising, sold, shared with third parties or stored in a cloud. It never leaves your devices because of FabStep.
“Workouts” access on Apple Watch
On the watch, FabStep asks for workout access only to keep the heart rate sensor running continuously and show your live heart rate. The session is not saved to Health.
Motion sensor and location
Motion & Fitness
The motion sensor in the iPhone and the watch is used to move the step counter in real time. These measurements stay on the device.
Location (GPS)
Location is used only during a walk that you start yourself, to trace your route. It is never used in the background outside that walk, and never sent anywhere.
iPhone ↔ Apple Watch sync
The iPhone and the watch exchange data directly with each other, over Apple's secure connection (WatchConnectivity), without going through the Internet or any FabStep server.
Tips
If the app offers optional tips, payment is handled entirely by Apple (App Store). FabStep sees neither your identity nor your payment details; the publisher only receives anonymous, aggregated sales reports from Apple.
Your rights (GDPR)
The General Data Protection Regulation gives you rights of access, rectification, erasure, objection, restriction and portability. Since FabStep holds no data about you, there is nothing to consult or erase on our side: everything is already in your hands.
Withdrawing permissions
On the iPhone: Settings > Health > Data Access & Devices > FabStep, then turn off the categories you want.
Motion and location: Settings > FabStep.
Deleting your data
Uninstall FabStep from the iPhone and the watch: the app's own settings and history are deleted. Your Health data stays in Apple's Health app, which remains in control of it.
For any question, write to contact@fabstep.app. You can also lodge a complaint with the CNIL, the French data protection authority (cnil.fr), or with the authority in your own country.
Children
FabStep collects no data, including from children.
This website
The fabstep.app website uses no cookies, no trackers and no analytics, and loads no external resources (the fonts are hosted on the site). That is why no consent banner is shown. The hosting provider may keep technical logs (IP address, date) to secure the service, under its own policy: see the legal notice.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be published on this page with its update date. Any change involving data collection would be presented to you in the app, before any access.
